In the majority of cases, this is a very easy problem to rectify, at zero cost and with nothing but a 5mm allen key and a piece of wood. The procedure is a very small modification to the standard balancing procedure used by Toyota. The 25mm difference with this method is to allow for the flex in the tyre. If it's still leaning but by a reduced amount : You can repeat the procedure, but increase the height of the object you drive onto eg: to or mmor jack the axle up higher. If there is no improvement: You may have to fit a strut spacer or longer springs to the right side of the vehicle, or you could have a leak or fault in the KDSS system.

Either way, you will need to have the vehicle assessed by a suspension specialist familiar with the KDSS system.

Correcting a KDSS lean

Thanks for posting this, will be giving it a try this weekend. I tried the procedure today on my rig and confirmed the lean was not corrected.

I'll be swapping the rear OME side to side next weekend. Hopefully that resolves the lean. For reference, I have the rear spring labeled "A" currently on the drivers side.

Did you take before, after, and current measurements or is this eyeballed? My truck leaned to the right until the springs settled in, and it was fine. Now for some reason after miles it's an inch lower on the right side again. It's quite noticeable at times, but when I measure on flat ground it's only an inch.

That being said, since it leans to the right it's probably pretty much level when my lb ass is in the driver's seat. But it did seam weird that only the back seemed to be affected.

Thank you for your response to my first question. There is this. DaohausSep 3, I disconnected my KDSS both in the front and rear for my installation.KDSS stands for Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System and it uses hydraulic rams attached to a very stiff sway bar in order to control body roll and articulation. The main purpose of the system is to improve on-road handling and to reduce body roll. Off-road the system is advertised to increase articulation and stability.

The design of the system can have some drawbacks when lifting your 4runner. Read more below on how to overcome these obstacles in order to get your 4Runner looking better and riding better. The KDSS system has a hydraulic ram connected to the passenger side of the sway bar and a fixed link on the driver side.

The sway bar is extremely stiff and the hydraulic ram extends or compresses to control the body roll and articulation. With this setup we have not had problems with leaning and the ride quality is fantastic. KDSS lean is the most common issue to occur if you lift your 4Runner too high.

The only solution we have found is simply not to lift them too high. Rear suspension travel on KDSS 4runners is limited primarily on the passenger side. In some circumstances the stiff sway bar and fixed mounting point will reach their limit and bind up.

In other situations the panhard bar will hit the axle.

Leveling a KDSS 4runner

We have not seen a rear panhard bar that offers a substantial amount of additional rear travel. KDSS 4Runners can use stock travel or extended travel rear shocks.

Extended travel shocks will allow for more articulation on the driver side rear but will let the panhard to hit the axle in droop on the passenger side.

We do not recommend disconnecting the system as it may cause check engine lights or void the warranty. The system is both electronic and hydraulic and should be maintained by the dealer.
